I’m a creative designer, a daytime activity girlie with a bedtime of 10 pm + most likely John Mayer’s biggest fan.
Hey y’all, I’m Karli — I’m a one-woman show and have been helping women-owned businesses create the branding + website of their dreams for almost a decade.
On top of being a brand designer, I’m a rescue mama of two of the most childlike fur babies (keep scrolling to see my sous-chefs). I use movie quotes from the same five movies to communicate, and my memory is mostly made up of music lyrics. John Mayer and Morgan Wallen are on a constant loop in our home. We leave the budgeting to my husband.
I’ve never met a potato form I didn’t like. My style is best described as boho chic (this goes for all things design, personal style + home interiors). I am a huge Bravo girlie (Southern Charm, Summer House, Winter House — you name it, I’ll watch it). And, I try not to make Love Island a personality trait but — nothing wrong with that, innit?!
Behind the studio
Let’s go back to my love and appreciation for art and design when I was sitting in front of the TV drawing with Pappy Drew It on the weekends. Yup, I believe that’s where my love for this all began.
This love for creating hasn’t stopped since.
In between all of my career pivots over the years, I was trying to figure out what would stick (and make me happy), so I found myself designing websites for others on the side.
And since I didn’t go to school for design, I was learning everything as I went.
It wasn’t until I got fired from my last corporate job. A couple of months later we had moved (for the third time to a new state), and this is when Flair by KD was born (in March 2019 to be exact).
I knew this was my moment to take that leap of faith, and man am I so happy that I did.
I fell in love with unique textures, colors, patterns and designs. While I fed that passion through style and fashion, I also began to realize that the brands I paid attention to weren’t just trendy or loud - instead, they offered a welcoming online and in-store atmosphere that catered to their audience, as well as their aesthetic.
From there, I saw a gap in the market for stylish-yet-functional, artistic-yet-approachable brand design that would serve passionate, women-owned businesses as well now, as it would in the years to come.
Now, I get to spend my days designing for passionate women-led businesses and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Most days are spent : with morning workouts, afternoon walks with my dog + husband, client calls + projects, reheating my coffee 6x, knee deep in Adobe Creative Cloud, and indulging in a healthy dessert while binging the latest show on Bravo.
